Vancouver · logo design
Every second Vancouver business has a logo with a mountain range, a wave, or a leaf in it, which means that visual language now says nothing at all. A mark should tell somebody which business this is, not which city it is in. Three real directions, two rounds, and files you own outright.

Vancouver identity market
Mountains, waves, cedar, and a specific shade of forest green are so widespread in Vancouver branding that they have stopped carrying meaning. A mark built from that vocabulary reads as generically local, which is the opposite of what an identity is supposed to do. Distinctiveness in this market often means deliberately not reaching for the obvious symbol.
The second local factor is bilingual and bicultural wordmarks. Plenty of Vancouver businesses need their name to work alongside Chinese characters, on a storefront, and on a sign in a mall directory. Designing that in from the beginning produces a much better result than adding it after the mark is locked.
The third is retail and strata signage. Vancouver storefronts frequently sit under strata sign rules with fixed dimensions and materials, so a mark with an awkward aspect ratio or a fussy colour becomes an expensive problem at fabrication.
How it works
Full scope on the logo design page.
An hour, sometimes less. We talk about the business, the customers, the words people already use about you, and the marks that make you wince. Whatever comes out of the call is the brief.
Three real directions, each shown with the mark in use at small and large sizes. No moodboards, no Pinterest stitching, no fifty variations of the same idea. Three honest choices to react to.
Two rounds of revision on the direction you pick. Small adjustments to weight, spacing, and proportion. The mark stops shifting and starts feeling like it has always been there.
SVG, PNG, JPG, favicon, social avatar. A one-page brand sheet with the typeface, the colour values, and where the mark should and should not go. Everything sent in a single folder.
What changes locally
A Vancouver logo engagement starts by ruling out the visual clichés rather than defaulting to them, and by asking early where the mark has to sit: a storefront, a strata sign band, a vehicle, a social avatar, a second script alongside the wordmark. The three directions are shown in those contexts. The file kit covers screen, print, and fabrication use, and ownership transfers on final payment.
Note
Every engagement starts with a free written audit, including the Vancouver ones. If we think the budget is better spent somewhere else, we will say so before you commit to anything. See everything we do in Vancouver.

One page listing forty towns ranks for none of them. A page per neighbourhood gets flagged as spam. The level in between is where local rankings actually live, and almost nobody builds it.

Four different things get bundled into a monthly website fee, and only two of them are unavoidable. How to tell which one you are paying for, and how to spot the arrangement where you never stop paying and never own anything.
