For Surrey preschools
Surrey has no single downtown, and no parent drives from Cloverdale to Newton twice a day for childcare. A centre competes inside its own town centre against the four others in it, and a site that markets to Surrey as a whole is invisible in the only place it needed to be visible.
Surrey · British Columbia · serving the South Fraser
Surrey childcare market
Whalley, Guildford, Newton, Fleetwood, Cloverdale, and South Surrey function as distinct communities with their own commutes and their own catchments. Childcare is the most location-bound purchase a family makes, so the search is the town centre plus the service, and a site optimised for the city name loses to a centre that simply said Fleetwood in plain text.
British Columbia runs its own affordability programs rather than the arrangement parents may know from Ontario, and participation status is the first thing a family checks. Centres are also operating in the fastest-growing young population in the province, which means waitlists are the normal condition rather than a temporary problem, and parents need to understand how the list works before they will bother joining it.
Language is a genuine differentiator here. A large Punjabi-speaking population means a centre with staff who speak Punjabi has something specific to say to families who want to know their child will be understood on the first day. Almost none of them say it on the site, and it is the kind of detail that decides a tour.
Where these sites lose customers
'Child-led emergent learning' means nothing to a first-time parent. A plain English description of what a typical day looks like, with the morning circle, the outdoor time, the snack rotation, and the rest period named in real language, does more than a paragraph of pedagogy terms.
The single most-asked question in preschool admissions is the ratio. A plain text answer ('three educators to twelve children in the toddler room, two educators to ten in the preschool room') on the homepage answers the question before the parent has to ask. Hiding it reads as evasion.
A parent who has been on three preschool waitlists already does not want a fourth black hole. A plain page that names the current waitlist length, the typical wait by age band, and the deposit terms gives the parent a real decision to make. It also ends up filtering out the parents who would have dropped off the waitlist anyway.

How we’d approach a rebuild
A Surrey preschool rebuild names the town centre in the headline and throughout the site in plain text, and drops the city-wide framing that leaves these centres competing for nothing. Fee program participation, the ratio, and how the waitlist actually works go on the homepage rather than behind an enquiry form. Where staff speak Punjabi or any other language families here use at home, that is stated plainly, because for many parents it is the deciding factor rather than a nice detail.
Note
We also publish a generic preschools & daycares rebuild page and a working Willow & Wren concept. Every rebuild starts with a free written audit, including the Surrey ones.

The searches happen in February. The pages have to be live by September to rank for them. What to build, why full-service accounting firm ranks for nothing, and the intake step that decides how the season actually goes.

Your brokerage page looks like four hundred colleagues' pages, ranks for nothing, and disappears the day you change firms. What an agent's own site is actually for, and the four pages that do the work.
