Pinegrove FreightConcept · the business is made up

A regional LTL site that puts the drivers first.

Most carrier websites bury the people who actually move the freight. Shippers see the same rate calculator on every site. Drivers see a generic careers page. This concept builds Pinegrove around the thing a regional carrier still does better than the nationals: knowing the dock manager by name.

Where the usual site loses them.

A shipper choosing a less-than-truckload carrier wants three answers fast: does it run my lanes, how long does it take, and can I reach a person when a load goes missing. Most carrier sites answer with a stock photo of a highway, a list of services every carrier offers, and a quote form that asks for everything except the freight.

Pinegrove Freight is a made-up regional carrier in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Its site is built for the dispatcher and the shipping manager.

Six decisions, and why.

  1. Tracking on the home page

Type a PRO number and the page shows where the freight is, the last event, and each step from pickup to delivery, with no login.

  2. A rate request built around the freight

The request comes in four parts: the lane, the freight with its class and dimensions, the accessorials such as lift gates and residential delivery, and who gets the quote. That is what a carrier needs to price a load, so the first reply can be a rate.

  3. Terminals with people in them

Six terminals, each with an address, a direct phone line, hours, fleet size, and a named manager with their years on the job.

  4. Lanes and transit times

A table gives one-day and two-day transit times from each origin, with the states and cities covered, so a shipper can check a lane before calling anyone.

  5. Drivers by name

The team page introduces drivers by name, with their lanes and years, because shippers trust the person at the dock.

  6. A field guide for first-time shippers

A plain-English primer covers freight classes, the life of a shipment, accessorials, and what can't ship, which answers the questions a new shipper would rather not ask on the phone.
