Two partners and one of counsel. You'll talk to one of them.

Margaret and Theo handle every matter the firm accepts, and the partner you meet at the consultation stays on your case. Anika joins when a workers' comp claim is involved.

Trial work in serious injury and wrongful death

Margaret Halloran

Minn. 2005 · D. Minn. 2006 · 8th Cir. 2009

Margaret founded the firm in 2011 after six years trying jury cases at a Minneapolis trial firm. She leads the firm's serious-injury and wrongful-death cases across Minnesota and in the District of Minnesota.

She has tried more than thirty cases to verdict and argued twice before the Eighth Circuit. She teaches damages and trial economics for the Minnesota Association for Justice and runs the firm's pro bono partnership with a Twin Cities legal aid clinic.

“Every case I take, I picture trying. Most never go to trial. The ones that do go better because we prepared as if they would.”

Trucking and motor-carrier cases

Theo Reid

Minn. 2012 · Wis. 2014 · D. Minn. 2013

Theo joined the firm in 2017 after five years defending motor carriers. He runs the firm's trucking cases, with a focus on hours-of-service violations, electronic logging data, and the federal safety rules carriers are held to.

His engineering background shapes how he reads an ELD download, an engine control module, and a reconstruction report. He has tried trucking cases in Hennepin and Ramsey Counties and in the Western District of Wisconsin.

“Trucking cases turn on the evidence the carrier would rather lose. Send the preservation letter the day the case comes in and half the work is already done.”

Workers' compensation

Anika Vance

Minn. 2007 · Certified comp specialist

Anika handles the workers' comp side of the firm's workplace cases and consults on construction injuries. She has practiced Minnesota workers' compensation since 2007.

When a work injury has both a comp claim and a third-party case, she keeps the two moving together so a settlement on one side doesn't undercut the other.

“Comp and the injury case are two different clocks. My job is making sure neither one runs out while you're watching the other.”

How the firm works

A small docket,kept that way.

  • Fewer cases, on purpose

We turn down most of the matters that reach us and take only what a partner can prepare properly.

  • No handoffs

The partner you meet at the consultation answers your calls and tries your case if it goes to trial. You won't meet an associate for the first time the week before a deposition.

  • By referral

Our cases come from former clients and from other lawyers who send us the cases they don't handle. We don't buy television time or keywords.

If you were hurt, the first call is on us.

Free and confidential. A partner calls back the same business day, and if another firm fits your case better, we’ll tell you which one.
